Lefteris Kokkolios, known widely as Leko, is a multidimensional street artist from Ptolemaida and an active member of the collective 3MK. Beginning his artistic journey with graffiti in 2004, and later studying at the School of Architecture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, his work blends urban aesthetics with deep artistic and design foundations. His early works carry strong influences from graphic arts and street culture: bold black outlines, bursts of color, monochromatic compositions, lettering, and themes inspired by contemporary life. Over time, Leko didn’t confine himself to walls; he took a bold step into textile design, fashion, and tattoo art, expanding his creative territory into new mediums of expression. His style is constantly evolving, incorporating influences from architecture, illustration, and printmaking. The fusion of modern and traditional elements is evident in every piece: compositions rich in color and symbolism, always marked by his distinct artistic identity.

Inspiration Everywhere
When asked about the source of his inspiration, Leko replies: “Inspiration is everywhere. I’m mostly inspired by elements of nature, everyday life, old doorways, grandma-style homes — even by the walls themselves and their surroundings, especially when it comes to abandoned factories and industrial sites.” This sensitivity to the beauty and history carried by seemingly “useless” or forgotten fragments of the urban landscape is clearly reflected in his work.
Color Palette
Although he doesn’t claim to have a favorite color, he reveals that lately he gravitates — almost unconsciously — toward shades of pink, orange, and green. A palette that brings light and energy to his creations, without losing its raw street aesthetic.
The Sound of Creation
For Leko, music is an integral part of the creative process. He is usually accompanied by nu metal and late ’90s–early 2000s rap: “Limp Bizkit, Korn, Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Slim Shady, Tigre Sporakia, Rodes… I believe the music we listened to just before and during our teenage years shapes our future musical tastes — and often our path in life.” This emotional connection to the sounds of his youth infuses his work with intensity and rhythm.

Cinema and Aesthetics
When the conversation turns to cinema, Leko speaks with passion about three of his favorite directors: Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Guy Ritchie. “Favorite films? Two by Guy Ritchie — Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. These directors share many similarities, but their aesthetics are completely different. They’ve managed to integrate music into their films in such a way that you often feel like you’re watching the music video of the song, not the film that features it.” The cinematic perspective, the dynamic storytelling, and the musical atmosphere that define these films seem to flow through his own work — whether on the wall or on paper.

Leko continues to evolve and experiment, always guided by aesthetics, authenticity, and the need for creative expression. From Ptolemaida to the walls of Thessaloniki — and beyond — his art never goes unnoticed.
