What do a heart, a rooster and a four-legged sausage have in common? An Italo-Lebanese creator with endless imagination.

The story of Karima is truly fascinating. After spending nearly a decade working in the advertising industry in Dubai, she began seeking deeper personal fulfillment. That search led her to leave the corporate world behind and experiment with different artistic media. This creative journey eventually guided her to discover her true passion — linocut printmaking.

Today, Karima creates relief art through the process of engraving. Through linocut, she translates the emotions each piece evokes in her, onto the surface she works on. Living in Athens with her husband, her son and their orange cat, she continues to evolve as an artist, drawing inspiration from nature and the world around us.

What’s your favorite color?

“Charcoal black and electric blue.”

What kind of music do you like to listen to while creating?

“I’m really drawn to the music of the ’70s and ’90s. I also love all those raw, heartfelt voices — London Grammar, Whitney Houston, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Billie Eilish, Chris Cornell, Elisa.

But when I need to finish a project fast, ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ is always on repeat.”

Do you have a favorite director?

“I’m fascinated by the work of Tim Burton, Neil Gaiman, Guillermo del Toro and Nadine Labaki.

I’m captivated by the dark beauty that runs through their stories and visuals.”

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

“For me, it’s all about lines and textures.

I might choose — or reject — a subject based on how many intricate details I can weave into my work.”
