Giorgos Zafeiropoulos, known as Onebran, was born and raised in Patra. Since the early 2000s, he has been intervening on the city’s walls, transforming public space into a canvas for expression. Graffiti was his first medium, but over time it evolved into a multifaceted visual language — from large-scale murals to paintings, installations, and video animation.

Artistic Journey

He studied Graphic Design at Vakalo School and he moved to Athens, where he has been living and creating for the past eleven years. As the years went by, new materials, techniques, and forms found their place in his work.

Yet the core remained the same: constant exploration. Each piece is an experiment — an investigation of space, form, and—above all—meaning.

Art as Experimentation and Inquiry

Onebran’s work is not detached from reality; on the contrary, it is born from it. Human behavior, urban architecture, the shadows of the streets — all are observed through his lens and returned to the viewer in a new form: as a comment, a question, or a subtle hint.

Color

In his palette, Ultramarine Blue dominates — a color he describes as his favorite. However, every color holds its own magic. He often gravitates toward “muted” tones — earthy, quiet hues that reflect a more subterranean emotionality. The Terracotta shades by Flame are colors he frequently returns to.

The Absence of Music in the Creative Process

Unlike many artists, Onebran prefers to work without music. His creative process demands focus and precision — so he surrenders to the sounds of his environment. The hum of the city, the creaking of an abandoned building, even absolute silence, become his natural soundtrack.

Cinema as a Visual Framework

Cinema is not merely a source of inspiration — it is a way of thinking. Films such as Trainspotting, La Haine, A Clockwork Orange, Dead Poets Society, and Requiem for a Dream serve as psychological and aesthetic references.

Their common thread: social tension, existential struggle, and beauty within decay.

Art as an Act of Survival

For Onebran, creating is not a luxury — it is a necessity. It is the process through which he interprets the world, deconstructs it, and builds it anew. It is a way to exist — a way to say the things that cannot be said otherwise.
