Stay Cool – literally and metaphorically!
Hot summer temperatures and sticky humidity can be enemies to your spray painting plans. But don’t worry, we’ve got a few tricks to help you win the battle:
• Pick the perfect timing: Early morning and late evening are the best times to spray paint. Not only will you protect yourself and avoid the hot sun, but cooler temperatures help your paint apply better and dry evenly.
• Embrace Coolness (and your sprays too!): Just as you need coolness, so does the paint in your project. Find a shady spot to work and remember to store the spray cans in a dark spot so they don’t overheat. Hot cans can lead to drips and inconsistent spraying.
• Beware of humidity: you have to stay hydrated, your project doesn’t! High humidity may cause paint to blister or take a long time to dry. If it’s a very humid day, prefer to work indoors with good ventilation or wait for a dryer day to come.
Spray Smart: Creating with Safety
Working with spray paint is fun and expressive, but safety should never take a back seat. Here are some tips to stay safe while you’re spraying:
• Suit up: Wear a mask and gloves to keep the fumes and chemicals at bay.
• Ventilate Like a Pro: If you’re working indoors, make sure your space is well-ventilated. Open windows, install fans, and keep the air flowing to avoid inhaling fumes.
• Stay Grounded: Always spray in a stable, safe environment. Avoid working on stairs or unstable surfaces and make sure you have a firm grip and footing.
